High School has climbed the ladder of athletic
excellence through persistence and determination. Kevin has
consistently overcome obstacles that many have viewed as being
"insurmountable." As an 1st Team All-American at Division III
powerhouse Ohio Wesleyan, Kevin led his team in every meaningful
statistic.
Upon graduation, Kevin set his sights on competing with the best
lacrosse players in the World. He took his talents to the
Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. A 13 year
veteran, Kevin has assured his place in the record books. A 5 time
All-pro, 5 time World Champion, All-Time Assist Leader, Top Ten All-Time
leading scorer in NLL history and holder of the consecutive games
played streak (162), Kevin has surpassed the heights others had
attempted to set for him. As a member of the Long Island Lizards he
has been an All Star and apart of the leagues 1st ever dynasty!
The true testament of Kevin's commitment to excellence and heart was
signified by his response to being the last player cut from the 1994
United States National Lacrosse team that won the gold medal in
Manchester, England. Kevin refused to let this setback waver his
dream of wearing the red, white, and blue uniform. He focused and
drove himself even harder. Kevin's talent and desire was rewarded by
his rightful place on the 1998 Team USA squad. Team USA won the
World Games of Lacrosse in Baltimore, MD in 1998. A class athlete
and role model, Kevin has been seen or featured in Philadelphia
magazine, WMMR Radio, ESPN, The Daily News and Philadelphia
Inquirer, all of the major local newscasts, and various commercials.
Realizing that he has been blessed, Kevin has given back to the
community as a volunteer with Special Olympics, Big Brothers,
American Cancer Society, and other laudable causes.
His philosophy while teaching thousands of kids around the country
is to, "have fun, learn, and play with discipline."
2008 proves to be the most exciting year ever for the sport of
lacrosse. Its explosiveness and skill level will continue to be
recognized by sporting fans around the globe. Kevin Finneran, as
proven by his accomplishments, will lead by example and help take
the game to the masses both on and off the field.
